I decided to go ahead and make it into a full-blown novel if I have enough patience for it at a later date. I just got a surge of creativity and the plot hit me not even minutes ago.

The novelette (novel-to-be) will be called Za Owari Rounin (The Owari Ronin). The title is a work in progress. If you have any suggestions feel free to let me know I would appreciate it!

It is about a samurai who deserts his master, Oda Nobunaga, and becomes a Ronin after Nobunaga orders a raid of the main character's home village (name of character still unknown). This raid was the result of several protests in the region and failed attempts to declare independence from the Oda Clan. In the raid, the protagonist's family home is burned with his wife and two children trapped inside.

The protagonist soon vowes to avenge his family name with honor by giving Nobunaga an honorable death by sword.

That is the plot what do you think? If you study Japanese history, specifically the Oda clan during the Sengoku period, you will already know the ending of the novelette. The protagonist will fail in his attempt to slay Nobunaga since Nobunaga is forced to suicide after his defeat in Honno-ji as a result of a coup-detat.

So you already know how Nobunaga's story ends, but the novelette isn't about him, it is about the protagonist. It is his story you will be reading about and that has a separate ending, one of great drama x3 I will make sure of that!
